Ron Paul vs. the Fed

This Wall Street Journal article contains some interesting tidbits. First of all, the authors' contempt for Ron Paul and Ron Paul supporters is kind of entertaining. Take, for example, this sentence:
"[Ron Paul's] movement has a small but deeply committed following: Supporters even have a dating Web site in his name, 'Ron Paul Singles,' where users seek others displeased with the Fed."

I've never heard of "Ron Paul Singles" before. A review of the website will be forthcoming.

Another point of interest, something that I wasn't aware of at the time, is this:
"When Mr. Bernanke first met Mr. Obama last July in the Fed chairman's stately office, Mr. Obama, then a candidate, began the conversation by saying, 'The first thing I want to tell you, Mr. Chairman, is I have great respect for the independence of the Federal Reserve,' according to attendees."

So I guess that candidate Obama, aside from pledging allegiance to AIPAC, also declared his commitment to the central bank. Is this something all presidential candidates have to do? Like some kind of hazing ritual?
